Natural Treatment for Toenail and Foot Problems

If you have noticed any changes in your toenails or any irritation or rashes between your toes or on the soles of your feet that doesn’t seem to get any better then you may be dealing with a toenail and foot fungus.

Many people are embarrassed to admit that they have a toenail or foot fungus, but it’s actually a lot more common than you realize!

In this article we will talk more about what exactly a nail and foot fungus is, a few ways to prevent it as well as share our natural treatment for toenail and foot problems to quickly nip it in the bud so you can feel confident rocking those strappy heels again!

What is toenail fungus?

This is a very common condition caused by an overgrowth of yeast or mold, as well as various fungal organisms (fungi). Poor blood circulation and a weakened immune system may also contribute to a toenail fungus.

It may start out initially as a foot fungus that spreads to your nail and the first sign of a toenail fungus may be a white or yellow spot under the tip of your nail.

A few signs of a toenail fungus include thickened nails that appear discolored. They may be distorted in shape and be crumbly and brittle. They may also have a slightly foul odor.

What is foot fungus?

Foot fungus, also referred to as Athlete’s Foot, starts out as red, scaly rash between the toes usually due to your feet sweating in tightly confined shoes.

Athlete’s foot can be very itchy and uncomfortable and you may even experience ulcers or blisters.

While it may be tempting to scratch, it may actually make it worse.

How can I prevent it?

  • Keep your feet dry and be sure to properly dry between your toes after a bath or shower.
  • If your feet tend to sweat in your shoes then alternate them each day to give your shoes time to dry out in between.
  • Buy cotton or wool socks, both of which are better able to control moisture and change your socks twice a day if your feet get very sweaty.
  • Wear waterproof sandals in public places like locker rooms or public pools or showers.
  • Make sure you go to a nail salon that properly sterilize their tools between uses.
