Your Quick Guide To The Skin Purging Process
Have you recently switched your conventional skin care products to an all natural line, only to feel dismayed at the breakouts and other issues you may be experiencing?
Before you give up and go back to your old products, we’re here to tell you that this is completely normal and just a temporary occurrence as your skin adjusts to your new products.
Before you throw in the towel, we urge you to keep reading!
What is a skin purge?
It sounds terrifying, but a skin purge is simply a “skin detox.”
Let’s compare it to a body detox, shall we?
When you cut processed, unhealthy foods out of your diet and instead, fill your body with fresh, whole foods, leafy greens and loads of fruits and veggies, chances are you’re going to initially feel worse, before you start to feel better.
All those toxins from unhealthy foods you may have been eating for years will start to float around your bloodstream before finding ways to exit your body, either via your skin in the form of breakouts or through nasty physical sensations such as fatigue, bloating, nausea and even mood disturbances such as depression and anxiety.
As these toxins make their way out of your system and are replaced with antioxidants and nutrients from your new food, you will slowly start to feel better, your energy levels will be boosted and your skin will glow.
Skin purging is very similar.
Conventional, chemically-laden products work as a “band-aid” to simply cover up skin issues without treating the root cause. When you start slathering on nutrient rich products infused with skin loving antioxidants, they will sink deep down into your pores and flush out any toxins that may be lurking under the surface of the skin.
This could mean breakouts as these toxins push their way to the surface, however once they clear up, your skin will look clearer and healthier than ever before!
Skin purging versus breaking out
At first you may panic, thinking that your new products are causing you to break out and are not meant for your skin, however you need to give your skin time to adjust to the new products. If your pimples seem to pop out of nowhere only after using new skin care products then chances are they are a result of skin purging.
Actual breakouts usually occur on a regular basis and are a result of harsh skin care products, hormonal changes and lifestyle factors.
Pimples from skin purging also tend to appear on oilier areas that clog up easily, such as the nose. Your new “clean” products are simply cleaning out bacteria and dirt and paving the way for healthier, more radiant skin!
How long will it last?
Pimples from skin purging shouldn’t last longer than a month, but be sure to stick to your new natural products and not go back to the synthetic ones!
We hope this helps to make things a bit easier to understand. Switching to natural skin care is one of the best things you can do for both your skin and your health and we just know you’re going to love the long-term results!
